Use DXF files up to 50 MB. Vellum finds every erection mark and its BOM, locates each plate, and checks the found shape against the BOM weight before it prepares views and files. DWG and scanned drawings are not read yet.

Is Vellum free?
Yes. During early access every feature is free, with no sign-up. Files you download carry a PRELIMINARY stamp until the part is verified or confirmed by an engineer.
Can Vellum create missing sections and measurements?
Only from evidence. A section is generated through a flat plate whose outline was found in the drawing and passed the weight check. Edge lengths come from the drawing geometry. Vellum never invents a dimension, and parts it cannot prove stay amber or red.
What 3D is available?
Flat plates with their holes and liners, built from a verified or engineer-confirmed outline and the BOM thickness. Bent plates, rolled sections, angles and full assemblies are not modelled yet.
Are drawings retained?
No upload. The drawing is read in your browser and a copy is kept in this browser only, so you can continue after a refresh. “Remove saved copy” deletes it.
Which files can I use?
DXF from AutoCAD (Save As → DXF). DWG conversion and scanned PDF, TIF and PNG drawings are planned and are not read in this version.
What does “Verified” mean?
The part's closed outline was found in its DETAIL view or as a liner, and its weight (area × thickness × 7850 kg/m³) matches the BOM weight per piece within ±3 %. Check fabrication drawings against the original before cutting.
